Founded in September 1981 and officially approved by the Japanese Ministry of Industry and Trade on February 25, 1982, the Swiss Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan (SCCIJ) has been supporting the interests of Switzerland affiliated businesses ever since.

On a broader scale, the SCCIJ is a business association serving Swiss companies and entrepreneurs doing business in Japan, and Japanese companies interested in dealing with Switzerland by offering practical services and organizing networking opportunities. As a member of the European Business Council in Japan, which consists of European chambers of commerce, the SCCIJ is regularly informed of démarches with the Japanese authorities.

Among the Chamber’s more than 200 members, many of the biggest Swiss multinationals can be found, as well as numerous of the so-called “hidden champions” (small and medium-sized companies, individual entrepreneurs). The SCCIJ organizes a large number of events, such as luncheons with guest speakers and exclusive gatherings, and takes part in joint events with other business organizations, to provide its members with excellent opportunities to exchange knowledge and ideas on a variety of topics.
